According to Auto Express, what you see here is slated to hit showrooms in 2010 and will go up against such luxury and performance stalwarts as the Mercedes-Benz C Class Coupe, BMW’s 3 Series Coupe and the Audi A5. It’s definitely got the looks to compete on equal footing, with the trendy high belt-line and minimal glass surface area. Where the XF sedan features slinky lines, this XF bulges in an exaggerated show of power, making the new Coupe a much more aggressive design overall.

First official Aston Martin Rapide image comes online

It’s only one image, but it’s supposedly the real deal. Or so says CAR Magazine in the UK, which published this rendering of the upcoming Aston Martin Rapide today. The publication claims the computer-generated rendering comes straight from Aston and previews the final form of this über four-door coupe. They apparently have another image in hand but are saving that for the January 2009 print issue of CAR. From what we can see, it appears that the Rapide will remain very true to the concept version. CAR notes the front end has changed a bit with the concept’s quad air intakes being replaced by an upper and lower grille, and there’s now a more creased character line running down the length of the vehicle. The rear has supposedly changed a little as well, but is not viewable from the angle we get in this rendering. The mag is also claiming the Rapide will be powered by a big 6.0L V12 producing 500bhp and 420 lb-ft of torque, which should be enough to keep the large sedan, err… coupe, moving briskly.

Citroen launches Airdream Business label

It’s common knowledge that most carmakers selling cars in Europe have a set of models that are a little “greener” than the rest of the line-up. Each OEM’s respective marketing department created a set of evocative names for these models, like Citroën’s Airdream. Now, Citroën has taken the good idea a step further: mating the green label to its fleet cars. This makes cars with reduced CO2 emissions and lower fuel consumption available to fleet users, and it also makes sense from an economic point of view, since lower fuel consumption also means lower running costs and road taxs. The Airdream Business label will not only include the most efficient powertrains available (1.6-liter HDIs) for each model (C4, C4 Picasso and C5) but the business part adds the highest possible optional equipment: Citroën’s signature satellite navigation system (called MyWay), rear-park assisting, bluetooth connectivity, and so on. The only options are lightweight rims and metallic paint.

Mercedes-Benz Recalling 1,515 MY2007 S-Class Sedans

Even though it’s not the best of things to happen, it’s always useful to know when and why your vehicle is being called in by the manufacturer. The latest recall in the States concerns the 2007 Mercedes-Benz S-Class. According to the German automaker, due to a manufacturing process flaw from the supplier’s side, the radial knuckle of the front strut may fail after significant mileage accumulation combined with exposure to high continuous stress by driving on rough roads. If the radial knuckle happens to fail, then the steering control of the vehicle may be affected. Merc said that the recall is expected to begin in December and that its dealers will replace any problematic front struts free of charge.

ABT shows real life Q5 photos ahead of Essen debut

Posted by admin on Nov 27, 2008

ABT’s tuned Audi Q5 is scheduled to debut at the Essen Motor Show, but the company has released specifications and photos in advance. The SUV has been given an aggressive, sport-tuned treatment similar to that used on the Touareg, Tiguan and Q7, and will be available in the first quarter of 2009. ABT’s Q5 is a fully upgraded package, from power and suspension upgrades to a full body kit.

Power is increased in all three of the available engines: the 2.0 TDI jumps from 170 horsepower to 190, the 2.0 TFSI from 211 to 240, and the range-topping 3.0 TDI jumps from 240 horses to 310, with 611 Nm torque.
