In addition to the world premiers of the RS5, the all-new A1 (complete with Justin Timberlake cameo) and the near-production A8 Hybrid, Audi plans to trot out an additional concept car onto the stage at the Geneva Motor Show, and your guess is as good as ours.

With the two previous e-tron concepts and Audi’s push to get an electric sports car to market within the next two years, it almost seems inevitable that another variant of the e-tron is in the cards, but maybe not this soon. Other possibilities include a new hatch to replace the A3 - something that seems decidedly staid for an otherwise spectacular show - and our personal pick: Something TTish. So… what do you think is coming to Switzerland? Sound off in the comments below and get ready for our live coverage beginning on Tuesday.

Report: General Motors looking at two previous Hummer offers

Posted by admin on Feb 25, 2010

According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, General Motors is taking a second look at two previous offers for Hummer after the deal to sell the ailing sports utility brand finally succumbed to a slow death yesterday.

The WSJ doesn’t divulge which companies are in the offing to purchase Hummer, only saying that GM had rejected offers from the two firms last year.

The original deal to offload the brand onto China’s Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery for $150 million was apparently rejected by the Chinese government, although the reason for the rejection is still in question.

It’s hard not draw comparisons to the Saab saga that played out over the course of the last year, with GM finally selling the brand to Spyker after prolonged negotiations. Then again, we could have a Pontiac or Saturn situation on our hands, with Hummer set to go the way of the Dodo if a deal isn’t reached within the next few months.

It has been a very long time since Volvo has introduced an all-new sedan. Actually, the last all-new Volvo sedan was the S80, a model that debuted back in late 2006. That explains why we’ve been seeing the continuous unveiling of the new-for-2011 S60 over the past year, even though the official unveiling in Geneva is still over a week away.

To get prospective buyers primed up for the new S60, Volvo has launched a myriad of video teasers and pics of the highly anticipated midsize offering. The newest 90-second video includes drifter extraordinaire (and one-time Volvo test driver) Sam Hubinette as he takes the S60 off the beaten path and onto some fun-looking sand. Hit the jump to watch the video for yourself. We were already interested in trying out the 300 horsepower, 325 pound feet of torque T6 S60, and this video has done little, if anything, to quench that thirst.

Reader Spy: Is that you, Toyobaru?

Toyota/Subaru Coupe test mule - Click above to enlarge

There has been a lot of buzz surrounding the joint venture between Toyota and Subaru and the Japanese automakers’ drive to create a new performance-oriented coupe. Toyota unveiled its FT-86 Concept, which previews what a production-ready model could look like, and we’ve seen a test mule of this car running around the Nürburgring, making it no secret that the companies are looking to make their respective coupes potent performers when they finally roll off of assembly lines.

Now, one of our readers has spied the Toyobaru testing on public roads. It doesn’t look like much has changed from the earlier mules that were spotted, probably due, in part, to Toyota having much larger fish to fry at the moment. However, it’s good to see that plans for this coupe are still on track, and just because the outside cladding hasn’t been adjusted doesn’t mean that there aren’t hot new tweaks under the hood. If we had to guess, judging by the more upright greenhouse and the wheels, this is probably the Subie variant. All we know is, we can’t wait to drive one. Hat tip to Alejandro!

Geneva Preview: Pagani Zonda Tricolore is a ground-bound air force tribute

Ferrari may have claimed the name Italia with the new 458, but rival Modenese exotic automaker Pagani is hoisting the Tricolore flag with a new special edition Zonda.

Presumably the last iteration of the hyper-exotic Zonda before the new C9 hits production, the Tricolore edition honors the Italian air force aerobatics team, known as the Frecce Tricolori. Based on the exclusive Zonda Cinque, the Tricolore is constructed from a special carbon-titanium weave left bare but for a clear blue lacquer. Red, white and green stripes run up from the nose along the top of the car’s surface, passing by the unique vertical fin air intakes.

LED running lights are also unique to the Tricolore, of which only one example will be built and sold at a whopping 1.3 million euros, or about $1.75M in American funds. The Tricolore is slated to be unveiled at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, so stay tuned for in-the-carbon photos, but in the meantime, you can check out the images in the high-res gallery.
